Katie Fiso
Oregon Ducks freshman point guard Katie Fiso is a devout Christian who describes herself as being "really heavy on my faith". She has stated that her identity is rooted in her relationship with God rather than her performance on the basketball court, often saying, "If Jesus says I'm good, at the end of the day, I'm good".
All of us are still winners, not because of what we do, but because of what Jesus did on the cross.
Overcoming Personal Tragedy: Following the death of her father, Joseph Fiso, in late 2024, she leaned heavily on her faith to find resilience and motivation. Her head coach, Kelly Graves, noted that her strong faith helped pull her through those difficult times.
Perspective on Performance: She uses her relationship with God to combat self-doubt and the pressure of rankings, believing that God sees her as "more than a basketball player".
Team Leadership: Fiso is an active leader in spiritual activities at the University of Oregon, participating in team chapels and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
