For multi-time PRCA World Champion team roper Clay Smith, faith is a foundational pillar that anchors his life both inside and outside the rodeo arena. He frequently emphasizes that his identity and success are rooted in a combination of "Faith, Family, and Culture."
Smith's perspective on faith is defined by several key principles:
Glory to God in All Outcomes:
He openly maintains a mindset that "God is always good, even if you’re not winning." He views the ability to compete and rope for a living as a blessing rather than something he inherently deserves.
Rodeo Community Traditions:
He deeply values the spiritual heritage of the rodeo family, which includes standing for the National Anthem and praying collectively before every major event.
Overcoming Adversity:
During challenging periods—such as recovering from a severe leg fracture—his faith and determination have been central to his emotional and physical comebacks.
