Ja'Kobe Walter is a devout Christian who openly credits his faith in Jesus Christ as the foundation of his life and basketball career. The Toronto Raptors guard frequently uses his platform to share his religious beliefs, explicitly stating, "First, I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ because He makes all things possible".
Walter's faith is highly visible through several key aspects of his life:
- Family Upbringing: He credits his parents, Eddie and Sabrina Walter, for raising him in the church from a very young age and teaching him to put God first in all endeavors.
- Public Witness: His official Instagram bio prominently features the phrase "walking with God". He has also been observed carrying his Bible to games, and his X (formerly Twitter) profile headline reads, "All Glory To God".
- Career Milestones: Upon being selected 19th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft out of Baylor University, Walter immediately dedicated the achievement to his faith, stating that he wouldn't be in his position without God. He regularly explains that his faith keeps him humble and focused on using his athletic talents to serve others.
To keep a proper perspective, the athlete thanks God each day for his blessings. “God has given me opportunities that I would’ve never thought I would have,” Walter said.
Last spring, when he declared for the draft, Walter began a social media post by thanking “my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ because He makes all things possible. He has walked with me all my life to get me where I am now.”
