Ohio State Buckeyes offensive lineman Luke Montgomery is a devout Christian who openly uses his platform in college football to share his faith in Jesus Christ. On social media, his bio simply reads, "Follower of Christ".
Montgomery has become a spiritual leader on the football team, frequently speaking about his faith during press conferences and on Christian sports programs.
Key Elements of Luke Montgomery's Faith
* Surrendering Control: Montgomery has shared that when football or personal plans do not go the way he expects, he relies on prayer and trusts in God's timing. He frequently uses the phrase, "It's the Lord's way; it's not mine" to describe his approach to adversity.
* Spiritual Leadership: After learning from older Christian players early in his career, Montgomery took on the responsibility of hosting and leading Scripture-based Bible studies for the team.
* The "Buckeye Revival": He is vocal about a strong faith culture at Ohio State, noting that weekly multi-sport athlete gatherings and player-led Bible studies have turned the locker room into a place of spiritual growth.
* Life Purpose Beyond Football: He has stated that his ultimate purpose isn't just winning games, but rather to grow the Kingdom of the Lord and act as a witness to those around him.
