Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Keelon Russell is vocal about his Christian faith.
He took a significant step in his faith journey when he publicly declared his faith in Jesus Christ through baptism. He was baptized at the Church of the Highlands College One campus in Tuscaloosa alongside his teammate, offensive lineman Jackson Lloyd.
Following his baptism, Russell shared an inspiring message about his spiritual path:
"Wow! Everyday God gives us new blessings and opportunities to live life, I made the decision to not only get baptized but to find who I'm truly am through Christ. So proud of myself to make this next jump in my life - best decision in my life."
His faith and maturity have also been anchored by family tragedy. In 2025, Keelon suffered the heartbreaking loss of his twin sister, Kierston. According to his father, Brian Russell, Keelon’s deepened connection to his church in Tuscaloosa and his decision to get rebaptized helped him navigate that immense grief. He now plays with the motivation of honoring his sister's memory and credits his spiritual foundation for giving him the strength to persevere both on and off the field.
