Tim Keenan III, the former standout Alabama Crimson Tide defensive tackle who was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2026 NFL Draft, is widely recognized for his deeply rooted Christian faith. Throughout his college career and entry into the NFL, Keenan has been highly vocal about how his spirituality transformed both his life and his athletic career.
Core Expressions of His Faith
A "Perspective Shift": Keenan openly credits his faith with saving his life and turning his football career around. Prior to his breakout 2023 season, he underwent a major physical and spiritual transformation—losing nearly 30 pounds and dedicating his efforts entirely to God.
"Be a Verb, Not Verbal": A personal mantra that Keenan frequently shares is his desire to be a "man of action" rather than just talking. He uses his platform to lead by example, trying to show God how thankful he is through his high-effort style of play.
Team Spiritual Leader: While at Alabama, Keenan became a pivotal spiritual anchor for the team. He started a team Bible study to foster fellowship among his teammates, whom he frequently describes as his brothers.
Giving Back: Demonstrating his commitment, Keenan revealed that he donated a portion of his NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) earnings back to his home church. He has noted in interviews that he wanted to use his influence to point young fans who look up to him toward Jesus Christ.
Draft Day Gratitude: When he fulfilled his lifelong dream of being drafted into the NFL by the Los Angeles Rams, his immediate response was one of praise. He expressed that even if he thanked God 10,000 times, it still wouldn't be enough to match the blessings he felt he had received.
